Alain Delon has died at 88. The French actor had been a star for decades and was seen by some fans as ‘the world’s sexiest man’ in his prime.
The actor embodied both the bad guy and the policeman. And he had legions of fans around the world with roles such as that the hitman in ‘Le Samurai’.
With his handsome looks and tender manner, the prolific actor was one of France’s most memorable leading men. His children announced the death on Sunday in a statement to French national news agency Agence France-Presse.
It said: “Alain Fabien, Anouchka, Anthony, as well as (his dog) Loubo, are deeply saddened to announce the passing of their father.
“He passed away peacefully in his home in Douchy, surrounded by his three children and his family.” The family has asked for privacy.
Tributes immediately started pouring in on social platforms. All leading French media switched to full-fledged coverage of his career.
