Silver Spring man indicted in fatal Gaithersburg collision

GAITHERSBURG, Md. — A 34-year-old Silver Spring man has been indicted by a Montgomery County grand jury in connection with a fatal collision that occurred in April 2023.

Kenneth R. McFadden Baldwin was arrested on September 3, 2024, by Montgomery County Police on charges of negligent manslaughter by vehicle – gross negligence and criminally negligent manslaughter by vehicle.

The incident occurred on April 28, 2023, around 2 a.m., when McFadden Baldwin, driving a red 2017 Ford F-450 tow truck, collided with a silver 2021 Nissan Versa driven by 51-year-old Juan Antonio Lamas Salcido of Gaithersburg. The crash took place at the intersection of Wightman Road and Aspenwood Lane.

Investigators from the Collision Reconstruction Unit determined that McFadden Baldwin was traveling at least 70 mph in a 35 mph zone when he struck Lamas Salcido’s vehicle, which was attempting to turn left. Lamas Salcido was pronounced dead at the scene.

McFadden Baldwin is facing multiple charges and awaits trial in Montgomery County.
