HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) – Virginia State Police say a 78-year-old man has been killed in a two-vehicle crash that occurred in Halifax County on July 20.
According to VSP, around 9:55 a.m. on Saturday, 78-year-old Robert Hermanowski of Nathalie was in a 1989 Chevrolet Silverado and was driving south on Route 501 near Dudley Road.
Hermanowski’s truck was rear-ended by a 2007 Ford Explorer, causing him to run off the right side of the road and hit a tree.
Hermanowski was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
The driver of the Explorer, 30-year-old Brandon L.S. Rogers of Nathalie, was not injured in the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt.
Police say the investigation into the crash is still ongoing. Rogers has been charged with driving too fast for highway conditions.
