Merrillville Shooting Victim in Critical Condition After Airlift to Chicago Hospital

Merrillville, IN – A shooting in Merrillville left one person critically injured on Thursday night. Police officers, alongside Superior Medics, responded around 8:30 p.m. to West 59th Court and Fillmore Place, where they found a victim suffering from gunshot wounds.

Responding officers rendered lifesaving aid until paramedics arrived. Superior Medics swiftly transported the victim to Merrillville Intermediate School, where an air ambulance awaited. The victim was then flown to a Chicago-area hospital, with their condition reported as critical.

The Merrillville Police Department has launched an investigation and seeks the public’s help. Detectives are urging anyone with information about the incident to contact the Merrillville Investigations Division.
