RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The American Red Cross is urging people to donate to help relieve the ongoing critical need as fall begins. Those who donate may receive a gift card.
The organization said donors of all types, especially those with type O blood, as well as those giving platelets are needed.
“With the blood supply still at critical levels, every single donation is key to making sure all patients relying on lifesaving transfusion,” the organization said in a press release.
Those who wish to donate blood or platelets can make an appointment by visiting the American Red Cross website, calling 1-800-RED CROSS or by using the Red Cross Donor app.
The Red Cross said those who donate by Sept. 30 will receive a $15 e-gift card to a “merchant of choice.”
Those who donate between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31 will receive a $10 Amazon gift card by email, plus be automatically entered for a chance to win one of three $5,000 gift cards.
