WASHINGTON, D.C. — A fatal shooting on Minnesota Avenue NE has left a 49-year-old man dead, prompting an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Department.
The incident occurred on Saturday, around 5:39 p.m., in the 3800 block of Minnesota Avenue, Northeast. Officers arriving at the scene found an adult male, later identified as Michael Simpson of Northeast D.C., unconscious and suffering from gunshot injuries. The victim was transported to a local hospital by D.C. Fire and EMS for treatment.
Despite all life-saving efforts, Simpson succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, August 25th.
Surveillance cameras captured images of the suspect, and police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the individual.
